I’m sitting at a birthday dinner listening to my girlfriend’s ultra-conversative family talk about how Obama told “illegals” that it’s okay for them to vote in this election and how the polls are being rigged. There isn’t enough beer in this whole mother to drown out the stench of bullshit and I’m about to pop the fuck off.

Sounds like my inlaws. I remember the good old days when they insisted Obama was going to repeal term limits and run for re-election.

If you want to really blow their mind, show them the statistics that more people are actually leaving the US to go to Mexico than coming here. Or on second thought don’t, because they’ll just blame it on the liberal media consipiracy.

Or you can just ignore them like I do my dumbass sister who complains that Medicare only lets her go to the dentist once a month.

I think I have a similar evening in tore for tonight. I am not a leftist by any means but it gets out of hand a lot, especially recently.

My brother in law had a book on his coffee table called “how to talk to a liberal if you have to” by Ann Coulter. He’s a doctor and douche extraordinaire. Needless to say we didn’t talk much.

you can’t reason people out of a position they didn’t reason themselves into.

Maybe open your ears and perhaps you’ll learn something. They may not be the most correct (or incorrect), but they are people with their own lives, skills, and experiences, and they came to their beliefs somehow. There’s always something to learn from them. At the very least, find common ground and keep conversations focused on that. Maybe they’re bigger car nuts than you. Maybe one of them owned the same car you do and had an amusing problem with theirs. You never know!

I always wondered why people in my area consistently vote conservative. The last fall I had a revelation... it’s the same people who are also still burning off their stubble fields every fall.
Not necessarily the people I want choosing the government, but hey, it’s democracy.

Well c’mon, that is entirely unreasonable. I go to the dentist twice a week, like any normal person.

I’ve known these people for damn near 15 years. Lol There isn’t anything I don’t know, and if there’s one thing I do know it’s that they will be conservative to the grave.

We met in the second grade. Hahahaha Went through school, went to different high schools, dated other people, and then came back together. I’ve been friends with her and her family continuously since we met though.
